Painting and FAUX FINISHING and WALLPAPERING, OH MY!!

These are the words that strike fear in the hearts of most homeowners everywhere. But never fear, “The Wall Wizard” will soon be here with PAINTING SECRECTS from Brian Santos, The Wall Wizard, the latest Meredith Books release from the nation’s favorite paint and wallpaper guru.

“Knowledge is power, it’s what you don’t know that can hurt you.” This simple premise serves as the foundation for Brian Santos’ “ed-u-tain-ing” presentations on painting, special finishes and wall coverings. Santos—better known as the Wall Wizard—is a master interiors guru armed with the tricks and tips of the trade that take the fear out of home improvement projects. “My mission is to educate people,” he says. “The manufacturers put out great products, but they don’t really tell people how to use them properly. Anyone can pick up a brush—the problem is knowing what to do with it.”

As a fourth-generation licensed finishing contractor, Brian Santos learned at a young age from his father and grandfather the value of working with his hands. While owning a successful contracting company, Santos discovered that people wanted to learn how to paint, faux finish, and wallpaper, but had limited resources from which to draw from. That’s when started presenting home improvement workshops at home and garden shows around the world.

For over 25 years, Brian Santos —the Wall Wizard— has given in excess of 5,000 Wall Magic workshops to more than one million do-it-yourselfers all over the world. With 22 different seminars, Brian educates, entertains and empowers his audience with the simple tips, tricks, and techniques that everyone needs to save time and money around their home. “The changes you make with a little paint or paper can be immediate and magical, but where do you learn these most common and basic of home improvement projects. That is where the Wizard steps in”, says Santos. More recently, Brian has spent years lecturing and conducting home improvement seminars throughout the U.S. for industry giants like Sherwin-Williams, Imperial Wallcoverings, Home Depot, and Lowe’s at home and garden shows throughout the world.

Santos’ popularity stems from his laid-back comedic style, wealth of knowledge and his years of practical experience regarding the walls around us. Homeowners and professional alike are marveled at the fact that he uses common household products to create professional painting results. “Yes, you can paint from the pantry. Plastic wrap, vegetable oil spray, vanilla flavoring, plastic milk cartons, garbage bags, and fabric softener are all several of the ordinary items that can produce extraordinary finishes, when you know the why behind the how-to’s of decorating” exclaims The Wall Wizard.

But the Wizard’s true magic comes from his innate ability to help people build self-esteem so they tackle a project with the same confidence as a pro. “There is wizard is within us all,” he says. “We can all create our own wall magic, whether it be with paint, paper, or fabric. All it takes is a little knowledge and perception, coupled with a little more patience and persistence. I use humor and entertainment to educate and empower people. What good is information if it’s not fun? And what good is the knowledge if you don’t put it to use?”

When he’s not on the road, Santos lives in the Tampa Bay area. He is the author of the best-selling how-to books, Painting Secrets, Faux Finishing Secrets and Wall covering Secrets. Growing up and working in the San Francisco Bay area, Brian’s past clients include former San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Joe Montana, actress Doris Day and Star Wars creator George Lucas to mention just a few.
